The Vacancy
We seek a Paediatric Complex Needs Occupational Therapist to join Demelza to ensure the seamless provision of occupational therapy across the organisation. This is a maternity cover post for 22.5 hours a week for up to 12 months commencing March 2025.
You will be responsible for continuing the delivery of occupational therapy support for the children and young people accessing Demelza services at all sites, during the fixed term.
This role aims to support a child’s safety, comfort and achieve stability in their complex, life limiting or long-term condition while being cared for by Demelza. Demelza offer charitable support and is not a replacement for statutory services. This will involve liaising with external therapists and professionals to gain a deeper understanding of the child’s therapy plan and ensuring that your colleagues in the care teams are well-informed, confident and competent in delivering child centred care.
This role encompasses supporting independence with activities of daily living that the child may undertake whilst being cared for by Demelza, for example independent feeding, dressing, aspects of toileting. You will assess, problem solve and advocate for children and families to enhance quality of life.
This will require working as part of a multi-disciplinary team providing a high-quality service to children and young adults and their families; contributing to interagency and inter-professional collaboration and team work to ensure that delivery of care is timely, well-coordinated, effective and appropriate to need. You will be a qualified Occupational Therapist with current HCPC registration.
The role will involve travelling across sites on a regular basis in order to support care delivery.
